About KINNAUR

Kinnaur, once a forbidden land, amongst dizzy Himalayan heights is now a treasure's trove for the daring & adventures seekers. From the righteous greens of Sangla valley which is well surrounded with the orchards of varied fruits especially apples, apricotes etc to the panorama of Chitkul, which is a last village on Indo-Tibet border from Indian side as well as the stunning site of Mt. Kinner Kailash, abode of Lord Shiva from Kalpa village.

Kinnaur lies on the ancient trade route between India & Tibet, ringed by the majestic Himalayan, Zanskar & Dhauladhar ranges, Kinnauri with its well conserved culture & timeless ritules is a land of plenty. The gushing rivers like Satluj, Baspa & their tributries-have over the centuries chiselled beautiful valleys across this picturesque land & natured one of the most hardy of mountain societies in India.

The Sangla valley is also known as Baspa valley since Baspa river flows through this valley. Sangla valley is a deeply carved cleft between burly mountain slopes, where evergreen forests rise to alpine meadows crowned by snowy peaks & this area has pine nut orchards, Royal red apples, cherry trees, and glacial streams with trout. Neighbouring villages include Chitkul, Rarchham, and Batseri. The Sangla Valley is the most beautiful place in the whole district and favourites amongst the visitors due to the special attraction of the houses, temples & Monasteries built in traditional Kinnauri wood-and-stone-style.
